I am so excited to share with you my FIRST ever “Bravely BeYOUtiful” blog post about a woman who I think exemplifies what being truly “Bravely BeYOUtiful” is... Allisyn Hardee Lambes. I call her Coach Al. ;) I met Coach Allisyn about four years ago. I was a fifteen year old with zero self confidence and really just didn’t know my purpose in life. I went to Allisyn thinking I was just going to get some really good pageant coaching but I got WAY more than that. She has not only been my Pageant Coach she has been a mentor for me, a second mom, and someone I can always trust and go to for advice. I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for her.

How has being a pageant coach and mentor impacted your life?
Being a mentor/coach has impacted me by allowing me to continue to learn and grow as well as the young ladies I coach. You are never to old to learn something new!
Have you ever struggled with something and thought you would never overcome it and how did you overcome these struggles?
I have been through so many struggles but being recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a woman in her forties was super tough. Learning that I had a chronic illness and was on deaths door was depressing. Swallowing the fact that my life would never be the same was shocking and honestly 2 years later I’m still processing. I have not completely overcome my situation and still work on it daily but I will say this, I serve a mighty God who has a big plan for my life and I have so many reasons to want to overcome and their names are Brooks, Haley and Brantley.
How did you find so much confidence/self love in yourself?
My parents always instilled in my sister and myself at a young age that we could do anything and be anything if we worked hard for it. Somehow their REAL talk approaches and pushing us to find our talents and gifts and use them worked. We were also always told that in order to love others, you must first love yourself. It’s so funny because I use those exact words with the young ladies that I coach!
What is something you would tell someone that is currently going through a struggle?
I would tell them to pray! God brings you clarity and peace in tough situations, so get on your knees and go to God with it.
