Hi everyone welcome back to another "Bravely BeYOUtiful" Blog. This weeks blog is about Lauren Molella Miss New York 2019! I have been following Lauren's journey for a while now and she is such a positive, beautiful and uplifting woman. I hope you all enjoy learning more about her, how she found confidence in herself, and all the amazing work she has done as Miss New York 2019.
1. Tell us about your year as Miss New York 2019 and competing at Miss America? What is something you learned from that amazing once in a lifetime experience?
My year as Miss New York 2019 was life altering. It provided me with incredible opportunities and I grew immensely from it. What many people don’t realize is that the large work load accompanied with the year is a huge contributor to what you get out of the year and the goals you achieve. I couldn’t be more proud to forever be a part of the Miss New York Organization and the change they supported me in achieving on behalf of our military!
2. What is something you hope others have learned from you from your year as Miss New York 2019?
I dedicated the majority of my year of service to Voices of Honor. Supporting our military in an important part of who I am and I hope that my legacy of making suicide prevention and PTSD treatment a priority continues. As a former titleholder and current doctoral student I still work on this platform and hope my communities continue to get involved!
3. As a child/teen were you ever bullied? If so how did you overcome and what is your advice to others being bullied?
I have frequently tried throughout my life to expand my horizons and honor other cultures than my own. As a psychologist I know that hate and bullying often comes from a place of misunderstanding. My advice to others who may be witnessing or experiencing bullying is to embrace the act of learning while standing your ground. It is never an easy situation but obstacles in life can always be trusted to foster change; it is you who chooses how that change affects you.
4. How did you find so much confidence in yourself and what would you tell others girls who are struggling to find that confidence?
As a teenager in the dance and modeling world, I was exposed to judgement at an early age. I was lucky to have strong women in my family and life that taught me the meaning of confidence. My advice to others would be to always remember your worth, you and you alone are the only one who can lower your self-esteem and define your value.
